# Dental Photography: Ideal Equipment and Tips
## Introduction
[3] Hey guys, today I'm here to talk about dental photography and let's talk about the ideal equipment. What do I have to buy? What do I need to take pictures? So I always receive this kind of questions and I'd like to say you, hey. That's not true that you need to buy the most expensive equipment to start taking pictures. Okay?
## Camera Equipment
[24] Many times I receive some still that, they have some equipment like a Note Canon, a Note Nikon. Okay? That's a crop camera. It's not a full frame mirror or mirrorless, but it's a good camera. Do you know? I always say that the magic happens when you have the knowledge to understand and get the full control over your equipment. Okay? So if you have a crop camera like a Canon t 65, t eight, okay, that's not a full frame, don't worry about. Don't think, hey. I imagine that this beautiful picture that you can see in my social media is just because I have a mirrorless camera. That's not true.
[61] If you give me, basic and the first in my clinic, I have the first version of Canon Rebels two one. So, man, I can take a beautiful picture using that camera today. Okay? You need to understand that you need to buy the correct equipment. And now what's that? First one, you need the body of the camera. Okay? If you have a cropped camera, you can buy a lens, a macro lens. You can buy a hundred millimeter or 60 millimeter if you are using Canon.
[96] If you are using Nikon, for example, you have 60 millimeters and you have a hundred and five millimeters, Okay? Macro. And both are very good, the both systems. Actually, you can use Sony. You have a 90 millimeters. That's so beautiful lens. Okay? But I usually recommend Canon. That's because not super expensive equipment. Okay? But I love all of them. You can decide. The big point, you need the body, the camera, and you need a macro lens. Okay?
## Lens Recommendations
[123] Alan, can I get these pictures, using another lens that's not macro? Look. For portrait, you can take be careful about the distortion. Okay? Because macro lens, you have less distortion than the other kind of lens. But when you're using a hundred millimeters. Okay? But, the big point here is when you need to shot, some small objects or the texture or super macro view, this is the plus to have a macro lens. You can get super close. Okay?
[169] So I recommend that you could buy a beautiful lens. Okay? The original systems is the best like Canon or the Nikkor for Nikon. Okay? But let me give some tips for you. If you have a cropped camera, sometimes you have you don't have a big space in your clinic, in your office to take pictures and the people always say me, hey, Alan, but I don't have space to move back and get the full head of my patient. You know, I don't have that space.
## Space and Lens Choice
[186] So where where could you do? Look. The first point, if you have a crop camera, I could recommend you to buy a 60 millimeters lens. Okay? Because you have more space. You have the the frame that you have. If you compare the same space using a hundred millimeters, you have more frame. Okay? So it means you don't need to move back to get the full head of your patient.
[209] So if you have crop camera, the the magic formula is if you have a crop camera, buy a six millimeters lens. Okay? If you have a full frame camera, I recommend to buy a a hundred millimeter lens. Okay? This is super important to understand that. So if you don't have anything, okay, and you want to invest and buy a very good equipment, I recommend that you could buy a mirrorless system. You have a very good resolution.
## Lighting Equipment
[239] Okay? And the lens are so beautiful also for this kind of equipment. I have a a Canon mirrorless. It's a very good camera. But for sure, it's a little more expensive than a basic camera. Okay? The second thing that you that I would like to talk for you today is you need to buy lights. Okay? Because it's impossible to get beautiful pictures if you don't have the correct flash.
[263] So why do I recommend this, MF 12 flash from Godox? First point, it's not a expensive flash. You can buy two flashes, almost $350. You can charge that so fast using USB c. Okay? You don't need batteries, so it's very good. You can connect the trigger, okay, with these flashes.
## Flash and Softbox
[285] You have specific models for this kind of flash, okay, that it's super easy to connect. So I will show in practice how to set up that, and I really like this flash. And for sure, we designed our Modsoft box for this kind of flash so you can connect your Twin Flash with our Mod Softbox that you can download and print this free resource and use to take all your old pictures that you need.
[313] The big point about the the Mod Softbox and the Light Made Simple protocol is just using one flash, just using one setting, you can take all pictures that you need. Portrait, extra aural, intro aural, model restoration, artistic, white background, black background, all in just one place. So it's super easy and fast to set up this studio using just one flash.

And the idea is to keep it simple and make it easy for you in your daily practice, taking and producing beautiful materials to share in your social media, to plan your case, to to present a case in a congress and that's it. This is the real life. This is the way that I do that and this is the material that I recommend. I hope that you like these tips and tricks. If you have any doubts, you can let me know and that's it.
