A deep dive into the fundamentals of occlusion combining a historic view of occlusal philosophies with the best evidence in the literature for a predictable, modern approach. Learn the MOD Philosophy of Occlusion in detail. We'll explore several types of occlusal appliances and their indications and perform an introductory hands-on occlusal guard design.

Michael DeFee DMD PhD

Dr. Mike DeFee is the founder of MOD Aesthetics, and oversees all clinical operations at the private practice arm of MOD. He also serves as managing director of MOD Research, directly overseeing new research initiatives.

He previously founded My Friend’s Dentist, a private practice in North Carolina which became the 1st Certified B-Corporation practice on the east coast. He stewarded the organization through a digital transformation leading to triple digit growth during his leadership.

An alumni of The Dawson Academy, Dr. DeFee has published over 10 articles in peer reviewed journals including The Journal of Virology and Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.

Dr. Wally Renne The MOD Institute

Wally Renne DMD

Dr. Wally Renne is the founder of the MOD Institute and leads all innovation initiatives at the organization. He is a contributing member of MOD Aesthetics, the private practice arm of MOD.

He previously served as a Professor and Assistant Dean of Innovation and Digital Dentistry at the Medical University of South Carolina and has won several national and regional awards for his efforts both pre-clinically and clinically.

He is also an active dental researcher and has published over 30 studies on scan and milling accuracy using various systems. Dr. Renne also has several patents including a patent for a platform of long-term antimicrobial dental materials.

Do I need to own a specific technology to take this mini-residency?

No. Whether you are considering investing in digital dentistry equipment or a dentist practicing digitally, the principles and practices covered in the track are technology agnostic.

How much does it cost to bring a team member with me?

Which airport is it best to fly into for the course?
